Care Plus

Support worker walking with visual impaired person

Care Plus is a specialist support service enabling children and adults with a sensory impairment to live as independently as possible.

The Care Plus team provide a range of services that can be delivered inside and outside the home and in a residential care setting. It supports people in a number of ways:

  • Support for outings, such as activities in the local community
  • Going shopping for food, gifts, household goods and clothes
  • Light household and gardening tasks
  • Accessing after-school clubs and short breaks in the school holidays

For those with a hearing or dual sensory loss, our team have the skills to communicate with you in British Sign Language and hands-on signing. For people with a visual impairment, our support worker can be their sighted guide, allowing them to leave the home and make their own choices.

The service can be used through direct payment or by self funding. Referrals can be made directly from the person requiring the service, by a family member, through a GP, Social Care or a friend or neighbour.
